Carl Everall is stepping down as Alport’s joint manager – to take on a full-time role at Crewe Alexandra.
Alport made the announcement just before the friendly with Crewe. Luke Goddard will have have sole responsibility as manager.
In a statement, Alport said: “We can tonight announce that joint manager Carl Everall has decided to accept a full-time coaching role at Crewe Alexandra.
“As a result, Carl will be wearing the red jersey for the last time this evening as well as relinquishing his role as manager.
“It’s a terrific opportunity for Carl and this club is all about progressing its players, management and staff. He leaves with our best wishes.
“We’d like to place on record our sincere thanks for all Carl’s contributions these last 15 months.
“This leaves Luke Goddard in sole charge of first-team affairs. Supported by the back room staff at Yockings Park, Luke will receive our full support and backing with focus now entirely on the season ahead.”
