The weather failed to stop residents and visitors from having a great time at a Whitchurch care home’s summer fete.

Plenty of people popped in to join the residents at Cloverfields Care Home in Chester Road, on Saturday, July 22 for a dog show and a dancing troupe and raised hundreds of pounds in the process.

Marion Brocklehurst, activities
co-ordinator at the home where she has worked for the past 15 years, organised the fete and she was delighted with how the day went.

“It was absolutely wonderful and we raised £720, which is a fantastic effort – we’re thrilled with it,” she said.

“We raised this considering the weather was quite showery, but people still came and bought things.

“The dog show was brilliant and the dancing show, too. The young children who came to dance were amazing and our residents loved it.

“The residents had a wonderful time. I even managed to get them dancing.

“The money we raised was for the residents’ comfort fund, which pays for their activities.”

Marion added the home is looking to keep raising money for the residents.

She said: “Last May, we had a sponsored silence which helped raise £400, so it’s been a really successful fundraising summer for our fund.

“Anyone who would like to come in and visit us is more than welcome.”
