A 39-year-old ‘prolific offender’ from Higher Heath who breached her conditional discharge by stealing goods from Tescos has been ordered to complete 120 hours of unpaid work.
Lorraine Steventon admitted breaching a conditional discharge when she attempted to leave Tesco’s in Whitchurch, paying for the items in her trolley, but concealing groceries worth £18.80 in her handbag.
Martin Rogerson said Steventon had lost her partner in a car crash four years ago, was constantly short of money and had taken a few extra luxury items including wine and cheese, giving in to temptation.
Sentencing Steventon, Magistrates told her she was a prolific offender, revoking her conditional discharge and resentencing her to a 12 month community order with 120 hours of unpaid work, with a further order for the most recent theft to run concurrently.
