There are many reasons to remain positive about working in the charity sector. With a huge range of charity jobs around, many with some excellent benefits; it’s an ideal career choice for those wanting to give a little back.

Charity work comes in all shapes and sizes; some are paid as well as voluntary. Whatever you choose to do, it’s a great way to build up skills and experience, all while helping to make the world a better place. Who said ‘one man can’t change the world?’

So if you are passionate about doing your bit, getting out there and making things right, then a charity job could be just the job for you. Whether you want to work in your local community or on a bigger scale, the charity sector in Britain employs more than half a million people, making it a great place to look for a job.

So, what are the benefits for those looking to get a job with a charity? Well, for a start, charities are looking to fill their positions with the best possible people; this means that they’ve made their working conditions high on the list of plusses. With excellent working hours, flexible positions, part time and often job shares, this makes a charity job a great prospect for those juggling busy lives.

Excellent rates of pay. While you may assume that most charity jobs are on a voluntary basis, this isn’t so. Most charities are aware that people can no longer afford to work for free and that to get the best person for the job, they need to offer something back. This means that many charity jobs come with an excellent rate of pay, helping you to help others.

Most jobs are now fully paid positions, but the best way into the sector is to volunteer. However don’t worry, there are a huge range of volunteer positions out there, and whether you want to work a few hours a week to fit in with family or study or you’re looking to devote more of your time, there’ll be something out there for you.

Volunteering also means that you get to shop around to find out exactly which job is right for you, it’s a great way to develop new skills and interests, while building up contacts, experience and often a whole new friendship group.

Once you’ve worked out which job is right for you, it’s time to start looking around for the employer that will match your needs. With so many different charities out here, there’s an excellent chance that you’ll be able to find the one that does just what you want, enabling you to start working on those causes that you feel passionate about.

Charity jobs are a rewarding and fulfilling way to spend your days. Coming home at night knowing that the world is a better place just because of you is a wonderful thing. In a world with so many problems and hurdles, there’s no better way to spread a little light in the darkness.
