The Visitors
Above You
(Earliest Records) – out now
IF you’re a fan of 70s nostalgia, notably David Bowie and Mark Bolan, then I think you might like this debut effort by The Visitors (not to be confused with their Australian counterparts from the 1990s).
It’s an odd album, veering between an Irish and American sound, sometimes folk, sometimes prog-rock, sometimes rather cringeworthy pop. The Bowie influence is huge and some of the tracks sound more like a homage to 1970s rock than something being released in the 21st century.
Standout tracks for me were 'Hi' and the album closer 'Without You', best listened to during a sunny drive through the countryside.
Interesting fact: they were first discovered by Factory Records.
