Wem Young Farmers’ Club continued its recent winning hot streak at the County Rally.

The wins come after the successes at the Shropshire Show, with every member putting in 100 per cent, entering two members in each competition, meaning it was no surprise Wem got placed in a range of the competitions.

Advisory members Vicky Evans and Anne Lokier, who is also president, came away with fourth in flower arranging and first for best- dressed cowgirl, while Rachael Stokes was placed in several of her entries, from flower arranging to a sign advertising the rally.

Members Rach Lokier, Charlie Morris and Haifa Masefield also earned vital points in their success in various stock judging competitions.

Annabel Gittins, from the club, said: “A big thank you goes out to Rach Lokier, who organised some great stock judging practises for the club.

“The club also did an amazing job in the active competitions which took place on the day of the rally – chairman Ollie Gittins and member Jess Evans came fifth in bricklaying with Cyril Williams coming second in the male arm wrestling competition, narrowly missing out on first place.

“All this effort put in by all members definitely paid off as Wem YFC won the Hawkstone area cup and came fourth overall in the rally.

“Again, the top table would like to thank everyone for their top efforts.”
