PLENTY of silliness, sing-a-longs, comic quips and evil scheming make the perfect recipe for any panto and Snow White at the Stiwt Theatre had all this in abundance.

The panto performance, starring former X Factor finalist Lloyd Daniels who plays Prince Valiant, was performed to a near packed-out crowd at the Rhos theatre on the evening I went along.

LHK Productions' take on Snow White stays true to the Disney plotline we all know and love but with a fresh and modern twist on this old favourite in the form of pop-culture references, dance numbers and cast members performing some of this year’s biggest hits including All About That Bass and Ed Sheeran’s Thinking Out Loud, which saw Lloyd enchant the audience with.

However the real show stoppers were Snow White played by Laura Coard’s magical version of Let It Go - from one of Disney’s newest and best loved offerings. She sang the song pitch perfect, giving Idina Menzel a run for her money!

While Muddles played by Michael Jenkins’, and Snow White’s rendition of Pharrell Williams’ Happy got the crowd going.

Snow White tells the tale of a beautiful princess and her jealous step mother the Queen, played by Jacqui Lewis, obsessed with getting rid of Snow White and becoming the fairest of them all.

After fleeing the kingdom to escape the Queen’s evil plans, Snow White seeks refuge with seven dwarfs living in the forest.

Taking pity on the girl, the dwarfs allow her to stay with them.

In true panto style, good overcame evil and Snow White was able to marry her Prince.

Unsurprisingly Lloyd was a joy to watch but other cast members shone just as brightly.

Laura played the Disney princess superbly, lighting up the stage with her cheery nature and dazzling the audience with her powerful vocal ability.

The character of hapless Muddles was another audience pleaser, despite being the underdog with his unrequited love of Snow White and muddling his words whenever he was around her, he certainly didn’t muddle his lyrics with strong vocals throughout.

Mark Newall played the role of Dame Val well, serving up plenty of laughs with her catty and sometimes callous remarks and Snow White’s jealous step-mother played a convincing baddie - making the audience feel compelled to boo and hiss throughout.

Iain Hoskins played the role of the Henchman well - disobeying the Queen's order to kill Snow White as his conscience got the better of him.

Other comical moments come from the Magic Mirror/Gio Compario - played by Wynne Evans - who is more interested in trying to sell the Queen car insurance than assure her of her ‘beauty’.

Poisoned apple aside, this is a lively production that all the family will enjoy - oh yes they will!

Tonight sees the cast of Snow White tread the boards at the Stiwt for the final time.
