The absolutely hilarious comedy 'The Ministry of Biscuits' is coming to The Talbot Theatre, Whitchurch Leisure Centre later this month.

Said to be 'the freshest comedy in years', the production on Thursday, March 22, is an Arts Alive event and is suitable for everyone aged seven and upwards.

It starts at 7.30pm and was described by The Stage as 'top-hole musical comedy'.

In Post-War London, The Ministry of Biscuits casts its sinister shadow over every elevenses in the land. Established to 'control biscuits, to control the idea of biscuits', it prohibits sweetmeats, such as the Gypsy Cream. But when Cedric Hobson, a junior designer, falls in love, and designs a biscuit to 'shake confectionery to its very foundations', his world and the ministry are turned upside down.

Forties British Light Music, Orwell's 1984 and Ealing Comedy inspired this satirical, musical comedy by best-selling author Philip Reeve (winner of the Guardian Prize for Fiction and the Carnegie Medal) and playwright and composer Brian Mitchell (Big Daddy vs Giant Haystacks) with a filmed section by international film-maker Ben Rivers.

It stars Murray Simon, Amy Sutton and Radio Four regular David Mountfield.
