BUNCH OF AMATEURS

(Talbot Theatre, Whitchurch, March 6-9)

Tickets are now on sale for Whitchurch Little Theatre Group’s very funny production of ‘A Bunch of Amateurs’ at the town’s Civic Centre next month.

It takes place from Tuesday till Friday, March 6 – 9 at 7.30pm. First night tickets are just £8 with the remaining shows at £10.

A Bunch of Amateurs is written by Ian Hislop (Private Eye, Have I Got News For You) and Nick Newman and is a love-letter to amateur dramatics. Keen to boost his flagging career, fading Hollywood action hero Jefferson Steele arrives in England to play King Lear in Stratford – only to find that this is not the birthplace of the Bard, but a sleepy Suffolk village.

And instead of Kenneth Branagh and Dame Judi Dench, the cast are a bunch of amateurs trying to save their theatre from developers. Jefferson’s monstrous ego, vanity and insecurity are tested to the limit by the enthusiastic am-dram thespians. As acting worlds collide and Jefferson’s career implodes, he discovers some truths about himself – along with his inner Lear!

Tickets are available from Whitchurch Civic Centre, Sandra on 01948 663220 and on-line on www.wltg.org.uk
