To get a taste of what you can expect at this year's Boomtown Festival, which takes place in Winchester from August 7 to 10, the County Times caught up with regular festival goer, Jess Needham.

This is her take on what is rapidly becoming one of the UK's most popular festivals...

To say I'm excited for my third year at Boomtown would be a huge understatement.

During its lifetime Boomtown has evolved into a complete powerhouse of a festival. The guys at Boomtown HQ have excelled in building and improving the festival every single year.

It is now in it's sixth year, and I can guarantee this one will be the best yet. For anyone who hasn't witnessed the magic of what Boomtown creates, I thoroughly recommend anyone to go. Indulge and surrender yourself to the fantasy, the madness, the hedonistic debauchery - it's incomparable to any other festival.

For starters, it is a make shift town with various unique districts which are all kitted out with amazing props - they really go to town with this.

You are sure to find a district that suits your personality, costumes are a must!

The line up is always ridiculously good, and this year sees a wider range of genres with some folky bands headlining like Bellowhead - an 11 piece multi-instrumental folk band.

Whatever your musical taste, drum 'n' bass, ska, house, techno, hip hop, folk, minimal, breaks, jungle, ragga tek....you name it, Boomtown caters for it.

Reminiscing on last year, I'd have to say Arcadia was by far my biggest highlight, it literally blew my mind.

A huge robotic spider infrastructure that looms over the festival, coming fully alive as darkness falls over Boomtown. Its an experience that has to be seen and heard to be fully appreciated.

While the mind blowing Arcadia DJs play out some beat heavy spine tingling tunes, each time the tune drops, the crowd are struck with fire breathing madness, you can actually feel the heat hit your face! It is by far the most extravagant, chaotic and insane stage I've ever experienced.

Other than these stages, there were all sorts of other hidden gems to stumble upon as you explore the wonderment of this alternate dimension. For instance the Hidden Woods which hosted Dub, Reggae, Dancehall and Hip-Hop live bands. I have hazy recollections of dancing there for hours, a great place to escape the manic centre of Boomtown.

So what are you waiting for? Tickets are selling out fast so grab yourself one! Don't miss the chance to be part of one of the most spectacular, mind blowing shows on earth!

I shall see you all in a field very soon.
