Tilston Parish Council are seeking nominations for two awards which will be presented at the annual parish meeting in April this year.

They are looking for people to be put forward for the Best Individual – someone who has made a real difference – and for the best community organisation.

To nominate an individual or organisation, contact Ann Wright, clerk at Tilston Parish Council, by Thursday, March 1 on 01948 861 035 or email clerk@tilstonparishcouncil.co.uk

It was announced at the recent Tilston parish Council meeting that Tilston Landscape and Wildlife Group, TPFA, Church, Hall Committee and Wakes Committee had all been ask if they would like to present an award.

It was also agreed that the nominations would be judged by the chairman and vice-chairman.

If you wish to write to make your nomination, send your letter to 62 Well Street, Malpas, SY14 8QH.

Meanwhile, councillors will look to find out more details regarding the potential purchase of the Village Stores.

It was decided that the shop owner would be contacted to confirm its availability and state the council would be looking to buy it on behalf of the community.

They will then seek advice on how to get the necessary loan to make the purchase plus other issues around Trust ownership.

Another council meeting will be called to discuss these issues once more information has been received.

Other items discussed on the agenda included agreeing on a public meeting to present potential options for S106 funding for the space behind the Village Hall, including a presentation from a wildlife group on their plans for the space.

It was announced that with only three responses concerning council tax precept, it would not rise this year.
