What’s happening in Whitchurch…

St John’s Coffee

On Saturday, December 16, St John’s Methodist are holding a coffee morning at the church, in St John’s Street, from 10am to midday.

There will be several stalls – cake, bric-a-brac, Christmas items etc – and the Church will be open for people to view the Christmas decorations.

The history behind the church’s World War memorials from both St John’s and Castle Hill will be on display and the inscriptions under the stained-glass windows, all researched by Vic Trigg.

So, take a break from the hustle and bustle and come and relax over a coffee, a chat and a time of quiet reflection in the church.

Thanks friends

The Friends of Whitchurch Hospital would like to thank everyone who this year so generously donated, attended fund raising events, and supported their Grand Summer Draw.

Joyce Chester, from the Friends, said: “Your continued support is amazing and is very much appreciated. All donations and fund raising go entirely to provide equipment and comforts for the patients and staff at our community hospital.

“This year we have without exception fulfilled all the requests from the hospital, along with providing daily newspapers and Christmas gifts for the patients.

“On Christmas day I look forward along with the mayor Councillor Tony Neville and Mrs Neville to distributing Christmas gifts to all the patients.

“Once again sincere thanks to you all and our best wishes to everyone for a peaceful new year.”
