What’s happening in Malpas and beyond…

Malpas

Parish Council

Malpas Parish Council has re-arranged its meetings scheduled for last week because of the adverse weather conditions for Monday, December 18.

The council was due to hold its normal monthly meeting for December as well as an emergency meeting about the building of 34 dwellings on land opposite St Joseph’s College in Tilston Road.

That meeting will begin at 6pm, while the normal meeting will begin at 7pm.

On the agenda, there is still an open forum for residents wanting to raise any issues with councillors, plus a number of planning applications which will be discussed by members.

Other items on the agenda include bus shelters, the allotments and the ‘Kings Chair’, among others.

Field Club

The first event in the Malpas Field Club programme for 2018 will be the annual New Year Ramble on Sunday, January 7, starting outside the Jubilee Hall, Malpas High Street, at 1.30 pm.

John Dakin will be unable to lead the walk previously advertised in the Field Club programme because of unforeseen circumstances. Instead, David Hayns will lead a four-mile walk, taking in Ebnal, Hollowood and Overton Common.

Anyone is welcome to join the walk, including dogs, so long as they are kept on leads. For information about membership and activities, or to receive details of the current programme by post or email, please contact David on 01948 860486 davidhayns.123@btinternet.com

Chess Draw

The Rector of Malpas, Canon Ian Davenport, has kindly agreed to draw the winning tickets in the Malpas Chess Club draw at 10am on Christmas Eve at The Old School Tea Rooms.

However he will not be able to stay much after 10am as he has another appointment at 10.30am in Threapwood.
