PLANS to turn agricultural land into a touring caravan site have been pulled.
Applicants Dominic and Sue Hughes had hoped to provide the site for 10 caravans at The Chapel in Pool Head, near Wem, alongside the conversion of an existing building to provide a block for toilet, shower, laundry and office facilities, plus amenity space.
A planning statement submitted in October said the couple were “caravan holiday enthusiasts” with “great understanding of the industry” and that the venture would “encourage visitors to Shropshire”.
But the plans faced opposition from neighbours and Wem Rural Parish Council on the grounds it would be overdevelopment of the site and increase traffic.
The proposal was withdrawn last Saturday.
