A Wem man is on bail until December after he was arrested following the stabbing of a teenager in the town’s High Street last weekend.

The 31-year-old man was arrested after the emergency services – police and paramedics – were called to the scene shortly after midnight on the morning of Sunday, October 29.

The teenage victim has since been discharged after he was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Detective Constable Alexander Pender, from West Mercia Police, insisted the force need more information following the man’s arrest.

“Although we have made an arrest, our investigation continues,” he said. 

“We would like to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time and who saw anything suspicious.

“Anyone with any information should contact West Mercia Police on 101 quoting reference 18s of October 29.”
