Cholmondeley Castle proves to be superb setting for rally fans

Cholmondeley Castle provided the backdrop to one of the most exciting DayInsure Wales Rally GB events in recent years last weekend.

The iconic Cheshire castle – just outside Whitchurch – hosted a stage of the race for the second year running, as more than 10,000 people attended to see eventual winner Elfyn Evans and his rivals fly tear up the tarmac.

Home star Guy Butler also took part as his car flew past where he picks up his milk, as a resident of the village.

On Saturday – the third day of events – the castle hosted plenty of activities for everyone to get involved, including classic and super cars, simulations to experience the thrills and spills of a rally race and even a giant inflatable dart board.

Fans waited patiently along the course to see the cars fly past, and the castle provided photographers – both professional and amateur – with the perfect chance of capturing that awe-inspiring shot.
