One of the main organisers of Whitchurch’s Blackberry Fair believes the weekend’s festival sparked a positive energy in the town on its 10th anniversary.
Hundreds of people enjoyed the fair, which had activities for everyone of all ages, including music, food and a parade through the town.
Steve Chapman, who is a crucial part of the event, believes the fair plays a positive part in the Whitchurch calendar and community.
“A lot of things came together for our 10-year anniversary, including the weather, which gave us a little bit of everything,” he said.
“We had lots of people come to us on the day and the vibe on the street was good, which is what it’s all about.
“We got to tell the stories we wanted to the people.
“There are too many people to thank them all – a lot of people came together to make it happen.
“It’s not about how large or small their role was, it’s a collective that brings us together.
“Blackberry Fair is about a community of people who celebrate Whitchurch. The two words from the day, for me, were ‘value’ and ‘respect’.
“The good thing about the fair is it has the spirit of those words in the people.”
