HUNDREDS turned out in force last weekend as plenty of Whitchurch residents were messing about on the river...well, the canal.

The Boat Rally, which took place on the Whitchurch arm of the Llangollen Canal, saw boats moored up in the town for people to visit and learn more about life on the water.

Some of the boats were decked out in bright colours while there were plenty of activities to keep youngsters (and adults) more than entertained through the course of the day.

The Whitchurch Heritage Centre was also there, alongside plenty of other stalls displaying crafts and other vital skills to get by on the water.

The weather played its part too as the sun shone on Saturday, while those who attended were treated to all kinds of music from Jigsaw, a folk band, and the Shropshire Boatmen, a male voice choir.

A glorious day was had by all as the boats lined the towpath.
