Whitchurch firm Grocontinental has launched its 2017 apprenticeship scheme and is inviting people from the area to apply for a range of positions.
One of the biggest employers in the town and beyond, the company has a number of roles on offer in its administrative and warehousing teams.
Gemma Molyneux, who is HR manager at the company, in Shakespeare Way on Whitchurch Business Park, says there’s plenty to offer potential candidates.
“We are looking for candidates who are willing to learn, have plenty of enthusiasm and are keen to work as part of a team,” said Gemma.
“We offer a high level of support to our apprentices and, because of the size of our business and the variety of job roles on offer, there are lots of opportunities for those looking for a secure career path.
“If anyone would like to find out more about the scheme, we would ask them to call our apprenticeship hotline on 01948 668218 for an informal chat with one of our HR team.”
One of the latest graduates of the company’s apprenticeship programme is 20-year-old Alex Yale.
He joined Grocontinental in 2015 and in just two years, after combining work experience with studying for a formal qualification, he is now an established member of the transport team.
He believes the apprenticeship scheme helped him make a choice in life on what to do when he left school.
He added: “I was really unsure of what to do when I finished school, but the apprenticeship scheme has proved to be a great choice for me.
“I have learned so much about the business in the time I have been here and had the opportunity of working in a number of different departments.
“It’s a fast-paced business that never stops and it’s great to work in a dynamic atmosphere. I received a lot of support from managers and colleagues.
“I would thoroughly recommend the scheme to people looking to gain practical working skills while studying for a formal qualification.”
