TWO Ellesmere Port based award winning theatre companies are set to join forces for the production of a new opera.

Theatre Hullabaloo and Action Transport Theatre for young people will unveil a brand new operetta My Mother Told Me Not To Stare to audiences in Ellesmere Port.

The production has been described as “a dark operetta for curious children and grown ups”, which is told in a fully operatic and gothic style.

The production, which is suitable for children aged eight and over, will tour nationally until April and includes performances at Whitby Hall, Ellesmere Port on Friday, March 12, at 1.30pm and 7pm and Saturday, March 13, at 2pm.

Director Nina Hajiyianni said: “Projects like this attempt to make what is seen as a ‘high’ art form relevant, alive, and accessible for children and the widest possible audience. Including puppets and shadow projections reminds us that we are entering the magical world of theatre for children.”
