THE popular jazz sessions held at The Boathouse Restaurant in Ellesmere will celebrate their third anniversary on October 12.

To mark this occasion, the session will see the return of trumpet player, Jamie Brownfield from Llanrhaeadr.

He has won several notable awards for his vibrant style of playing, and recently was invited to join a VIP pilgrimage to New Orleans, where he played alongside top American jazz musicians.

Jamie will be joined with a national trombone legend - Mike Owen - who thrills audiences with his entertaining and exciting playing.

The duo will be backed by The Derek Harrison Trio, with Graham ‘Rockit’ Ashley on drums and Dave Margaroni on bass.

Vocals will be added by singer Russ Latham.

The jazz sessions are organised by Oswestry pianist, Derek Harrison and his wife, Jennie. They are held each month and feature musicians from a wide area.

Food and drink will be available to purchase from The Boathouse.

Entry is £5 at the door, but it is advisable to book in advance on 01691 623852.
