A local playing field has received thousands of pounds in grant money from the National Lottery to buy new equipment.
Queensway Playing Fields have just received thousands in a National Lottery Grant, to help it maintain the Queensway Park, which is run by volunteers.
A spokesperson for the playing field said: “This grant comes after applying for three times for a grant for new equipment, as the equipment that we already have is 25 years old, so we are very pleased to be successful this time and new equipment will enable the association to keep the Park looking good.”

The Queensway Association is run entirely by local volunteers and relies on grants to support the ongoing repair and improvements needed to keep the green space maintained and safe for the use of local residents.
The association was founded nearly 45 years ago in 1979 by a group of local residents. Since then much work has taken place to transform the area into the thriving space it is today including a sports field, play equipment, fishing pond, orchard and allotments.
According to the association the National Lottery has given them a grant of £20,000 but they are still planning on fundraising to improve the area.
They added that the Association are “holding Car Boot Sales every third Sunday in the month until October on the Park.
“Car Boots are £5. Booters should arrive between 11am and 12pm. Boot sales start at 12 noon.”
