A FAMILY fun day is set to be held on one of the biggest green spaces in the town – Whitchurch Rugby Club (WRFC).

The fun day will be held the club’s Edgely Park home on Sunday, May 26 from 1pm in the afternoon until 10pm at night as part of the Whitsun Bank Holiday weekend.

The fun day is following in the footsteps of a similar event held during the Covid-19 lockdown in 2020 called ‘Pint on the Pitch’ and with plenty of music and fun available, they are hoping to provide a fantastic day out for the whole family.

OTHER NEWS:

Dave Windsor, chairman of WRFC, said the day is to celebrate the multiple groups that use the grounds and the clubhouse and wants everyone to come to enjoy the day.

He said: “We have so many groups that use the club and it’s time we brought everyone together.

“We hope to see the footballers having a game of tag rugby and joining in with the tug ‘o’ war, the Whitchurch Whippets coming for a cool drink on what sounds like a hot weekend and all the other groups that we host here.”

Chloe Jones, who is bar manager at the club, added: “I’m really looking forward to the weekend.

“We have lots of bands booked to play while people are enjoying themselves and the children will enjoy the tag rugby and the bouncy castle.

“It will be nice for us not to be in the kitchen as we’ve secured various food vendors to come along and share their delights with everyone.”

Club president, Richard Charmley, said: “The club has recently been fundraising to make improvements in the clubhouse to make it a more welcoming environment for the whole community.

“We hope people will support this effort by coming along with friends and family while we give something back to them.”
